What is a virtual appliance?
VMware describe virtual appliances (VAs) as, “Pre-built software solutions, comprised of one or more virtual machines that are packaged, updated, maintained and managed as a unit.” In other words, a VA is simply the virtual world’s equivalent of a physical appliance.
