The true cost of social networking in the office is of real concern to businesses. A 2010 survey of 1000 employees by MyJobGroup found that among those who use sites such as Facebook, Twitter and Myspace at work, one-third are spending more than 30 minutes a day and almost 6 per cent spend more than an hour. Such potential for lost productivity has major cost implications, especially for small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
